Colorado Avalanche Release Forward from PTO
Alex Galchenyuk did not make the cut, as the Colorado Avalanche released him from his PTO.
Galchenyuk inked a PTO with the Avalanche right before the start of training camp. On paper, this seemed like a potential fit, as Colorado lost a handful of forwards this offseason. Furthermore, Galchenyuk could have been a decent secondary scorer in their bottom six, but alas, that now is not going to come to fruition.
There hasn't been an announcement regarding Galchenyuk's next move, but we should keep our eyes open for one shortly. Perhaps the 2012 first-round pick will find a new home elsewhere in the NHL or even head overseas.
In 60 games this past season with the Arizona Coyotes, Galchenyuk had six goals and 21 points.
