Columbus Blue Jackets Goalie Still Not Cleared to Play
According to Aaron Portzline of The Athletic, Joonas Korpisalo has not been cleared for game action yet.
Portzline also noted that there is still no estimated timetable for Korpisalo, so it seems that Danil Tarasov will start the season as the Columbus Blue Jackets' backup netminder. This is not ideal news for Korpisalo, as his spot on the NHL roster was already not a guarantee after the disastrous 2021-22 season he just had.
In 22 games this past season, Korpisalo had a 7-11-0 record, .877 SV%, and 4.15 GAA. It was a year to forget for the 28-year-old, and due to his return not being determined, his bounce-back season attempt will need to be put on pause. Here's to hoping that his hip feels 100% soon and that he can be good to go shortly for the Blue Jackets.
