Detroit Red Wings Dealing With Multiple Injuries
The Detroit Red Wings have started the 2022-23 season with early bites from the injury bug. The team announced on Wednesday forward Andrew Copp has joined the likes of Robby Fabbri, Jake Walman and Mark Pysyk who are all slated to miss time.
GM Steve Yzerman says newcomer Andrew Copp had abdominal surgery, will miss camp/exhibition season. Anticipated back first week of regular season.

Other dates for expected returns
Robby Fabbri & Mark Pysyk: Mid-January
Jake Walman: Mid-November
Copp will be out for training camp and is likely going to miss the opening of the season after undergoing abdominal surgery. He was one of the team's biggest offseason acquisitions and is slated to have a huge impact on the Red Wings roster.
Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman also gave an update on Fabbri who had surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee on March 10. The team expects to see him return the middle of January. Another January return is Pysyk, he's recovering from a torn Achilles tendon. Walman on the other hand is expected to be available for the lineup sooner as he'll likely slot back in on defense sometime mid-November according to Yzerman.
Tough start in Motown as an already thin blue line takes a hit and one of their breakout candidates starts the season on the shelve.
