Detroit Red Wings Prospect Impressing at Camp
It appears that Detroit Red Wings prospect Elmer Soderblom is making a big impression at training camp. While speaking with reporters, Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde noted that management requested to see Soderblom play in a top-six role, and the big winger did just that last game.
Derek Lalonde said there was a request from management to see Elmer Soderblom in a top 6 role. He’ll get that tonight along with power play time. #LGRW

Soderblom is set to play his first professional season in North America after developing his game in Sweden. This past season with Frolunda HC of the SHL, he broke out, as he scored 21 goals and recorded 33 points in 52 games. This was after a five-point campaign in 28 games the season before, so it's clear he took a big step forward last year. Now, the Red Wings are liking what they are seeing from him, and it could maybe lead to the 21-year-old getting a spot on their roster.
At 6-foot-8, 250 pounds, Soderblom not only is imposing, but he also has a strong skillset and quick speed. This could all be enough for him to be in the NHL in no time. Let's see if he makes their opening night roster from here.
