Florida Panthers Sign Goaltender to PTO
The Florida Panthers have invited another goaltender to training camp, as Jean-Francois Berube has signed a professional tryout contract with the team.
Berube played in the NHL for the first time since 2017-18 last season, where he had a 3-2-0 record and .900 SV% in six appearances with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He primarily played in the AHL with the Cleveland Monsters, however. In 19 games with the team, he had a 4-10-5 record and .879 SV%. Now, he will be aiming to earn himself a two-way deal with the Panthers from here.
Berube will not be competing for a job at the NHL level, as the Panthers are all set with Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight as their tandem. Yet, Berube could be an option for the third-string role if he inks a deal. Overall, with how often injuries occur, it's never a bad thing to have a lot of depth in net. Thus, let's see if Berube can impress at camp and get himself a contract.
