Florida Panthers Sign Prospect
The Florida Panthers have signed Patrick Giles to a two-year, entry-level contract.
Giles just completed his four-year collegiate career with Boston College. His senior year turned out to be his best campaign, however, as the 6-foot-5 winger set new career-highs with 15 goals and 22 points. He also appeared in 17 games with the Charlotte Checkers after finishing at school, where he had three assists.
Giles may not have the most upside when it comes to his offense, but his size and physicality could make him a solid bottom-six forward at the NHL level as he continues to gain experience. There's certainly no harm in the Panthers taking a chance on the 22-year-old. We will need to see how he develops from here.
