Former Ranger Signs PTO To Return To New York
Coming out of Harvard University as a Hobey Baker Award winner back in 2016, Jimmy Vesey was once one of the most sought after names in hockey, and it was the allure of The Big Apple and the Rangers that won Jimmy over, signing his first contract with the Rangers that same year. While he was never a bad player, the hype caught up to him, and unfortunately, Vesey was never able to catch on the way many expected, as he had a disappointing career high of 35 points in his three seasons with New York.
He wasn't able to catch fire anywhere else either, as he's struggled to find a consistent role in any other organization, as he's played for 4 different teams (Buffalo, Toronto, Vancouver and most recently New Jersey), but has struggled to do anything significant.Professional Tryout

With depth in mind however, the New York Rangers have decided to bring Vesey back on a PTO, and whether he catches on or not in his second stint in New York, it's a low risk, high reward signing that could potentially see Vesey win a role in the bottom six at some point. That's highly unlikely, but Vesey is a talented player that's just been unable to catch on in the NHL, and back with the team he started with, there's a chance we see Vesey get some minutes in 2022/23.
