Maple Leafs Lose Another Defenseman to Injury
The Toronto Maple Leafs are starting the 2022-23 season dealing with several injuries as defenseman Jake Muzzin is the latest to remain off the ice.
Muzzin is dealing with back issues and isn't expected back on the ice until sometime next week. With Timothy Liljegren already out for six weeks and Rasmus Sandin still without a contract, the team may have to rely on their depth a little more than originally expected.
Look for Mark Giordano to potential move to the right side in Liljegren's absence and it's likely Leafs Nation gets a taste of what Victor Mete and Jordie Benn bring to the table early on this season.
As for Muzzin, he's battled injuries the past couple of seasons but mostly concussion based. Great to hear that appears to be behind him, however back issues for a veteran player can be something that never goes away and it's more of a pain tolerance game-to-game.
The Leafs just announced that Jake Muzzin will miss the start of camp with back discomfort.
