New York Islanders Place 2 Players on Waivers
The New York Islanders have placed Richard Panik and Kenneth Appleby on waivers.
This is the second season in a row where Panik did not make the Islanders' NHL roster out of camp. The 31-year-old's $2.75 million cap hit is a notable reason for this, so he will once again start the season in the AHL - assuming he clears waivers. In 39 AHL games last season, he had nine goals to go along with 19 points. With that, he also had an assist in four games with the Islanders.
Appleby, on the other hand, was expected to hit the waiver wire, as the Islanders' goaltending tandem of Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov is set in stone. In three career NHL games, he has a 0-1-0 record and .945 SV%.
