At the time of this writing, Robertson is still an RFA, and there hasn't been much progress with contract talks. As a result, the star winger is currently sitting out training camp. Dallas is obviously aiming to sign the 23-year-old to a new contract, whether it is a bridge deal or a long-term one. Yet, that apparently isn't stopping the Sabres from contacting the Stars about his availability.
A lot would have to go wrong for the Stars to even consider the prospect of moving Robertson. He is viewed as the present and future of Dallas' roster, so it would be shocking to see any trade occur. The Sabres would need to come up with a massive package for the Stars to consider doing business with them, but boy, it would be massive if Buffalo somehow landed him.
In 74 games this past season, Robertson scored 41 goals and recorded 79 points.
