NHL Rumors: Edmonton Oilers Send PTO Offer to Forward
The Edmonton Oilers have been linked to Jake Virtanen. Rumors have been swirling that Edmonton is interested in signing the 2014 first-round pick to a professional tryout (PTO) contract and according to Mark Spector, they have offered Virtanen just that.
Yet, Spector also noted that the "feeling is he will go elsewhere." At this time, teams like the Calgary Flames and Washington Capitals have been linked to Virtanen, so perhaps one of those teams could end up signing him before training camp begins.

My take: That is for the best.
EDM has one project already in Puljujarvi. They don’t need a second one.
After being found not guilty of sexual assault, Virtanen is trying to resume his NHL career. He last played in the NHL during the 2020-21 season with the Vancouver Canucks, where he had just five goals in 38 games. If he finds another opportunity, he will be hoping to turn things around on the ice.
Nevertheless, we will need to wait and see if this offer to Virtanen from the Oilers results in him signing there. However, Spector's report does make it seem that the chances are low.
