NHL Rumors: Joe Thornton Back in San Jose

Reports have been flying over this past weekend that NHL great Joe Thornton was spotted in San Jose. While that's not necessarily breaking news as he likely has a place in the area, there seems to be speculation brewing that Thornton will be joining the Sharks organization. In what capacity, at this point is unknown.

The 43-year-old spent last season as a member of the Florida Panthers and was in and out of the lineup. Corey Masisak of the Athletic confirmed Thornton has moved back to San Jose with his family while they figure out this next chapter.

Perhaps we see the Sharks extend a PTO for training camp. Thornton, in a limited role can produce on a team's second power-play and fourth line. Last season with the Panthers he appeared in 34 games recording 10 points.
