NHL Rumors: Rangers Received Trade Offer for D Nils Lundkvist
According to The Athletic's Arthur Staple, the New York Rangers are currently contemplating a trade offer for defenseman Nils Lundkvist. The young defenseman has requested a trade out of New York as he's in tough to crack the NHL lineup.
Word is the offer isn't necessarily ideal for the Rangers and it's likely they wait until training camps open to hopefully receive something better. General manager Chris Drury is not going to settle, just to make a disgruntled player happy.
Staple had this to say on the latest out of New York:
As for trades, two sources said that the Rangers have been offered a second-round pick for Lundkvist, an offer that’s been on the table since Claude Lemieux, Lundkvist’s agent, requested a trade before the deadline in March. It’s believed to be a high-second rounder — it was likely for the June draft from a team at the bottom of last season’s standings — and the sources indicated the offer of a second for next year’s draft is still good.
Lundkvist is 22 years old and is a former first-round pick, 28th overall in 2018. He's appeared in 25 career NHL games, recording one goal and three assists.
