NHL Rumors: Sharks and Rangers Emerging as Trade Partners
Two teams headed in opposite directions, the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers have been linked to some wheeling and dealing. According to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now, they've spoken with one NHL scout who feels the Sharks are targeting Rangers disgruntled defenseman Nils Lundkvist.
Lundkvist has asked for a trade out of New York after the former first-round pick continues to move the wrong way on the Rangers' depth chart. The 22-year-old blueliner has some serious holes in the defensive side of his game which has reportedly turned some teams away.
Lundkvist first approached the Rangers last season regarding a trade request as the right-side of the Rangers blueline is stacked with talent and you can't blame the player for searching out an opportunity to play.
While the Sharks are a potential target, so too are the Arizona Coyotes, Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings.
