Ottawa Senators Sign Forward
The Ottawa Senators have signed Tyler Motte to a one-year, $1.35 million contract.
I’ll be blunt, I like this signing by the Senators. Even after a summer of spending, they still have plenty of cap space, so it seemed that they could do more before the start of the 2022-23 season. Now, they have done just that by bringing in Motte on this cheap deal.
Motte will provide the Senators will more depth in their bottom six, no matter the position. This is because the Michigan native is capable of playing all three forward positions. With that, his solid defensive play will make him a lock to play on their penalty kill.
Motte spent this past season split between the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers. In 58 games on the year, he had seven goals and 15 points. It will be intriguing to see what the gritty forward can do as a Senator from here.
