Philadelphia Flyers Sign Forward to PTO
The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Antoine Roussel to a professional tryout contract.
There certainly could be a match here between these two parties. Roussel fits the description of a classic Flyer, as he plays an immensely physical game. This is made apparent by his 59 penalty minutes and 74 hits in just 53 games last season with the Arizona Coyotes. With that, he has 1,063 PIMs in 607 career NHL games.
Although Roussel has the potential to give the Flyers more toughness, he does not offer too much offensively at this juncture of his career. Over his last three NHL seasons, he has recorded just 25 points in 129 games. That equates to 0.19 points per game, which is quite low.
Yet, Roussel's grit could provide a spark to the Flyers' fourth line if he earns himself a contract for the season during this PTO. We will have to wait and see if he can do just that.
