Toronto Maple Leafs Star to Miss Time
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been dealt some bad news, as John Tavares will be out for the next three weeks due to an oblique strain.
With this development, Tavares is not only set to miss the remainder of training camp but also will likely miss a handful of regular season games. Although this isn't a long-term injury, it is immensely important to start the season on the right foot. Unfortunately, the Leafs will have to do so without their captain.
Assuming there are not setbacks, Tavares should be back in the lineup in the middle of October. In 79 games this past season for Toronto, the 32-year-old scored 27 goals and recorded 76 points. Needless to say, replacing that kind of offense will be hard, but Toronto will be without it for the first few games of the year.
