Anaheim Ducks Sign Defenseman
Nathan Beaulieu has clearly impressed during his PTO with the Anaheim Ducks, as the team has now signed the 29-year-old defenseman to a one-year, $850,000 contract. It is also a one-way deal.
Beaulieu played in just 24 games last season for the Winnipeg Jets, where he had four assists and a minus-7 rating. A lower-body injury took away a major portion of his season. In fact, at last year's deadline, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins but did not appear in a single game for the team due to injury.
Needless to say, Beaulieu will be hoping for more luck when it comes to his health. On paper, the veteran defenseman seems to have a decent shot of playing on the Ducks bottom-pairing. The 6-foot-2 defenseman's physical play will also give Anaheim more bite at a cheap price.
In 419 career NHL games, Beaulieu has 12 goals, 82 assists, and 94 points.
