Blue Jackets Call Up Top Prospect
Big news for the Columbus Blue Jackets, as top prospect David Jiricek has been called up to the NHL roster.
Jiricek was selected 6th overall at this summer's NHL Entry Draft, so naturally, there is a lot of hype surrounding him. The 6-foot-3 defenseman has started his career in North America with a bang, as he already has four assists in five AHL games with the Cleveland Monsters. That is certainly encouraging to see, and now he will be aiming to translate that over to the NHL.
Yet, Jiricek's does come with bad news, as it has occurred due to Adam Boqvist breaking his foot. As a result, Boqvist will be out for the next six weeks. This is a grand opportunity for Jiricek to show Columbus that he is ready to play at the NHL level, so look for him to start his career off well.
