Blue Jackets Star Injured in Season Opener
It was a forgettable start for the Columbus Blue Jackets as they kicked off the 2022-23 season with a 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes and the added salt to the wound was forward Patrik Laine left the game with an upper body injury.
Laine opened the scoring just seconds into the second period as the Finnish sniper appears poised for a monster season, however later in the game and awkward collision into the glass left Laine worse for wear.
When #CBJ Patrik Laine signed his new contract this summer, he indicated a desire to “give back” to the central Ohio community.

Today he announced he’ll donate $1,000 for every point he registers this season to the Columbus Community Shelter Board to help combat homelessness.
INJURY UPDATE: #CBJ Patrik Laine (upper body injury) will not return to tonight’s game at Carolina.
