Calgary Flames Defenseman Clears Waivers

Nicolas Meloche is staying with the Calgary Flames, as he has cleared waivers and has been sent down to the AHL.

Meloche was a last-minute cut made by the Flames, but with this latest development, he will still serve as a depth option for them this season. This is pretty good news for the Flames, as Meloche showed last season that he can be effective at the NHL level when called upon. In 50 games last campaign with the San Jose Sharks, he had two goals to go along with five assists.

At the end of the day, we should expect Meloche to be one of the Flames' primary call-up options when injuries inevitably arise during the season.
