Calgary Flames Place 3 Players on Waivers
The Calgary Flames have placed Juuso Valimaki, Radim Zohorna, and Dennis Gilbert on waivers.
Valimaki, who is a former first-round pick, just has not been able to cement himself as a full-time NHLer. The Flames improved their blueline this offseason as well, so there just wasn't room for the 24-year-old on their roster this season. In nine games with the Flames in 2021-22, he failed to record a point and had an even rating. Teams thinking he could get back on track may put a claim in on him.
Expect Zohorna to be claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins. The 6-foot-6 winger was recently claimed off waivers by the Flames from Pittsburgh, so if the latter does bring him back, he can smoothly be sent down to the AHL without hitting the wire again. In 17 games last season, he had two goals and six points.
As for Gilbert, he spent the entirety of the 2021-22 season with the Colorado Eagles, scoring six goals and recording 23 points in 52 contests.
