Calgary Flames Release 2 Forwards from PTOs
The Calgary Flames have released Sonny Milano and Cody Eakin from their PTOs.
Out of the pair, Milano is the more surprising player being let go by the Flames. It seemed that he would be a good fit for their third-line left wing position, but alas, the 26-year-old will be hitting the open market without a PTO again. Somehow 34 points in 66 games last season has not resulted in him finding a home in the NHL for the 2022-23 season, but perhaps things will change on that front shortly.
As for Eakin, he was aiming for a fourth-line spot in Calgary, but it appears that he did not impress enough at camp to earn a contract. In 69 games this past season with the Buffalo Sabres, he had four goals and eight assists.
