Cam Talbot Out Several Weeks; Ottawa Senators Add Goalie
A major blow has been dealt to the Ottawa Senators, as Cam Talbot will be out for the next five to seven weeks due to an upper-body injury. In response to this unfortunate development, the Senators have claimed Magnus Hellberg off waivers from the Seattle Kraken.
Talbot is one of the Senators' big additions from this offseason, and he is expected to be their number-one netminder once healthy. Yet, his debut with the club will now have to be put on pause. Certainly debilitating news for an Ottawa club looking to make the playoffs, but they will now be running with an Anton Forsberg-Hellberg tandem to start the year.
Speaking of Hellberg, this is an interesting player to watch. The 31-year-old netminder just put together a 2.42 GAA and .917 SV% for Sochi HC of the KHL last season and will be aiming to carry over that success to Ottawa from here.
