Primeau got into just 12 games with the Canadiens in the 2021-22 season, posting an underwhelming 4.62 GAA and .868 save percentage. He has a 5.58 GAA and .842 save percentage in just one game in the AHL this season.
A former 7th-round pick by the Canadiens in the 2017 NHL Draft, Primeau flashed potential in his junior hockey days but has not been able to find much success in the NHL or AHL since then.
Jake Allen, who is on parental leave, likely won't miss more than one game. He has a strong 2.03 GAA and .943 save percentage through two games this season.
