Carolina Hurricanes Sign Forward
The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Derek Stepan to a one-year, $750,000 contract.
Stepan signed a PTO with the Hurricanes before training camp, and it was previously said by GM Don Waddell that the team was likely to sign him for the year. Now, that has officially come to fruition, and the 32-year-old is set to play his second season as a Hurricane.
At this stage of his career, Stepan is no longer a top-six forward, but he does work well in the bottom six. With that, his leadership and experience will be appreciated once again this year by the team. In 58 games last season, he had nine goals and 19 points.
