Chicago Blackhawks Claim Defenseman Off Waivers
The Chicago Blackhawks have claimed Jarred Tinordi off waivers from the New York Rangers.
When Tinordi was placed on waivers, it seemed possible that another club would take a chance on him. The 30-year-old has gotten attention on the wire in the past, and he is a pretty serviceable depth defenseman. With the Blackhawks, he could be in the running to receive bottom-pairing minutes given their injury trouble on the left side. At a minimum, he should serve as their seventh defenseman well.
Tinordi played in seven games for the Rangers last season, where he had a goal and a minus-5 rating. The 6-foot-6 d-man is not noted for his offensive ability, but he does provide a lot of physicality and solid defensive play. Overall, not a bad player for a rebuilding team like the Blackhawks to add to their depth.
