Chicago Blackhawks Top Prospect to Have Surgery
Chicago Blackhawks top prospect Frank Nazar is set to have surgery to help fix a lower-body injury he has suffered. According to Scott Powers of The Athletic, this could result in Nazar missing the entirety of this season.
This is certainly awful news, as Nazar was preparing for his first season with the University of Michigan. The 18-year-old center is viewed as having a lot of potential, and it's exactly why the Blackhawks selected him with the 13th overall pick of this year's draft. However, now he is very likely to miss his freshmen season.
Nazar spent this past season with the U.S. National Development Team and was dominant for them. In 24 games, he scored 15 goals and recorded 35 points. Yet, now we are likely to have to wait a whole year to see what he can do for the University of Michigan. Here's to hoping his recovery is a smooth one with no setbacks.
