Coyotes Rumors: 5 Teams Linked to Jakob Chychrun Trade
The Arizona Coyotes are expected to have Jakob Chychrun back in the lineup this week after several injuries throughout the summer. Recently, TSN's Darren Dreger linked the Coyotes defenseman to a trade to the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers or Ottawa Senators.
Dreger had this to say on Insider Trading:
Look, there's a growing list of Canadian teams that are in the market for a defenceman - you know, Chychrun is high-rent and the ask is tremendous, so we'll see whether the likes of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton or Vancouver are going to buckle and pay that price or they'll look elsewhere. But I can tell you those are the teams that are in the market
Because of Chychrun's injury troubles and recent play, the Coyotes are expected to wait roughly 10 games or so before they move their disgruntled defenseman. Their banking on him finding his game once again before pulling the trigger on a deal. The 24-year-old blueliner had 21 points in 47 games last season and 41 points in 56 games in 2020-21.
Signed for just $4.6 million for the next three seasons, Chychrun has the ability to be a top-2 defenseman and the Coyotes are hopeful he showcases this upon his return so they can maximize the trade package heading back to the desert.
