Detroit Red Wings Place 3 Players on Waivers
The Detroit Red Wings have made a trio of cuts from their preseason roster, as Austin Czarnik, Steven Kampfer, and Matt Luff have been placed on waivers.
When called up to the NHL last season, Czarnik was solid, as he had two goals and seven points in 17 games split between the New York Islanders and Seattle Kraken. Although he was not a dominant scorer, he did provide decent production in a depth role. This could certainly get him some attention on the waiver wire, much like it did last season.
Kampfer spent this past season in the KHL with Kazan Ak-Bars, where he had 11 goals and 30 points in 46 games. It was a very good year overseas for him, but that, unfortunately, did not lead to him landing an NHL job for the start of this season with the Red Wings. If he goes unclaimed, he should be a very good addition to the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Luff played in 23 games with the Nashville Predators, scoring three goals and adding three assists. Overall, he has made a handful of appearances at the NHL level over the last four seasons, but he has not been able to become a full-time player. We will have to wait and see if the 25-year-old gets claimed.
