Edmonton Oilers Release Forward from PTO
The Edmonton Oilers have released Jake Virtanen from his PTO.
The Oilers signed Virtanen to a PTO in hopes that he would be a solid depth forward for them during the 2022-23 season. Yet, he simply did not impress enough this preseason to earn himself a contract and will be hoping to find a new home before the start of the season.
Teams like the Washington Capitals and Calgary Flames were interested in Virtanen before he signed with the Oilers on a PTO, so maybe they will take a look at him.
Virtanen spent this past season with Moscow Spartak of the KHL, where he had nine goals and 16 points in 36 games. In 317 career NHL games, he has 55 goals and 100 points.
