Edmonton Oilers & St. Louis Blues Complete Trade
The Edmonton Oilers have traded Dmitri Samorukov to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for Klim Kostin.
Samorukov was placed on waivers last week after not making the Oilers' NHL roster. The 6-foot-3 defenseman played in his first NHL game last season, where he had a minus-2 rating. Due to the fact that he already cleared waivers following his placement on the wire, the Blues will have the freedom to freely send him to the AHL if they wish to. Yet, given St. Louis' injury trouble on defense, he certainly could start the year in the NHL.
Kostin, on the other hand, is a 2017 first-round pick who has not been able to cement himself a permanent spot in the sport's most competitive league. In 40 games this past season with the Blues, he had four goals and nine points. Let's see if the 23-year-old can turn his career back around as an Oiler from here.
