Flames Sign Prospect
The Calgary Flames have signed prospect Lucas Ciona to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Ciona was selected in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, but he is certainly gaining a lot of attention due to his recent play. In his first nine games this season with the Seattle Thunderbirds, the 19-year-old winger has scored seven goals and recorded 17 points. This is a very impressive production from the youngster but even more so when noting that he is coming off of a 35-point campaign in 53 games. Thus, it appears he is breaking out, and it has earned him this ELC.
The Flames are clearly in win-now mode, but having a prospect like Ciona for the future is also a good thing. Let's see if he can continue this awesome pace of production from here.
