Florida Panthers Call Up 2 Defensemen

With Aaron Ekblad being placed on LTIR and Brandon Montour also injured, the Florida Panthers have called up Lucas Carlsson and Matt Kierstad.

Carlsson appeared in 40 games with the Panthers last season, where he had three goals to go along with six assists. Overall, he was solid when called upon, so he should work well as a fill-in. In two games this season with the Charlotte Checkers, he has three assists. 

Kierstad primarily played for the Checkers last season, where he had five goals, 20 points, and 64 penalty minutes in 63 games. The 6-foot defenseman plays a heavy game, so he will bring a bit more bite for Florida's blueline. In 10 games with the Panthers last season, he had a goal and an assist.
