Panthers Sign Veteran Center
The Florida Panthers have signed Eric Staal to a one-year, $750,000 contract. It is also a one-way deal.
Staal signed a PTO with the Panthers and was still skating with the team during the regular season. Therefore, it seemed inevitable that the veteran center would ink a deal with the club, and now it has finally come to fruition. Aaron Ekblad's LTIR placement also created cap space for the Panthers to get this move done.
Staal last played in the NHL during the 2020-21, where he had five goals and 13 points in 53 games split between the Buffalo Sabres and Montreal Canadiens. The 1,293-game veteran will give the Panthers another very experienced player who has a Stanley Cup ring on his resume. Overall, this is a good depth signing for Florida, and the Staal brothers are officially reunited!
