Flyers Dealt Brutal Injury News
The Philadelphia Flyers are off to a great 5-2-0 start this season, but, unfortunately, they have been dealt some horrible injury news. Sean Couturier, who recently suffered a setback in his recovery, has now had back revision surgery and will be out for the next three to four months. James van Riemsdyk also had surgery on his broken finger and will be out for the next six weeks.
With the Flyers having a very good and surprising start to the season, they were hoping that Couturier could help them maintain it by returning soon. Yet, this setback clearly was a major one, and now the 29-year-old has elected to have surgery to help fix this issue. Now, we are not likely to see him back until February or March, and that's simply horrible for both the player and team.
JVR, on the other hand, has played a notable role in Philadelphia's hot start, as he has five points in six games on the year. Yet, now the 33-year-old will be out until early December. Replacing his production will be hard, but the Flyers will need to find a way to.
