Edler has been out since Monday after taking a puck to the face during the pregame warmups.
With the thirty-six-year-old still out, rookie Brandt Clarke should continue to see minutes, though likely in a minimal capacity.
Edler has failed to put up 20+ points in each of the previous two seasons, in addition to failing to play more than 70 games since the 2014-15 season.
Edler put up 19 points over 41 games last season with a +18 plus/minus rating. The veteran defenseman signed a one-year contract extension this past summer worth $750,000.
The Kings are currently 3-2 through the first five games of the season.
