It seemed likely that a suspension would come to fruition for Doty. The 29-year-old was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for the play, so naturally, that grabbed the attention of NHL Player Safety.

Doty is no stranger to the physical side of the game, and his AHL stats from last season show that effectively. In just 41 games last season with the Ontario Reign, he had a whopping 89 penalty minutes to go along with three points.
