Maple Leafs Coach Calls Out Superstars After Losing to Coyotes
The Toronto Maple Leafs couldn't beat the Arizona Coyotes in two tries last season and it appears it's going to be much of the same this season. The Leafs lost to the 'Yotes 4-2 on Tuesday night and let's just say head coach Sheldon Keefe is not pleased with the performance of his elite superstars.
Keefe, who has been calling out everyone to start the season, had this to say after the team's embarrassing loss:
Our best people have not found their rhythm. The difference between us and Arizona is that we have elite players. And our elite players didn't play like elite players today, they couldn't make a difference. In that sense, the game is going to be close. That's the way it goes when those guys don't make the difference that they can.
The Maple Leafs fall to 2-2 on the season. While John Tavares and William Nylander are off to hot starts, the same cannot be said for Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews. If they keep struggling, don't be surprised to hear Keefe let them have it in the media some more.
