Maple Leafs Coach Calls Out Team After Game 1 Collapse
The Toronto Maple Leafs are one game into the 2022-23 season and already head coach Sheldon Keefe thinks his team's play was unacceptable.
The Leafs visited the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday to open their season and after holding an early lead, it was the final three minutes of the game that has their coach stewing. Canadiens forward Josh Anderson scored the game winner with only 18 seconds remaining on the clock, thanks to a defensive break down by Jake Muzzin and Justin Holl.
Keefe met with the media after the game and had this to say:
It was early season sloppiness, but I don’t expect that. For everything our team has been through together, it’s unacceptable. We have to be way more responsible. Careless. I expect more, our group should expect more. Not good enough. We deserved to lose. I thought our guys hung him (Matt Murray) out to dry.
Hot start for Leafs Nation, here's what all the fuss was about.
