Maple Leafs Defenseman Moved to LTIR
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed Jake Muzzin on LTIR. It is retroactive to October 18th, so the earliest that he can return is on November 11th.
This LTIR placement frees up $5.625 million of cap space for the Maple Leafs. At the time of this writing, an estimated recovery timeline for Muzzin has not been established, so until he returns, they will have money to play with. As a result, we could see Toronto try to add a notable defenseman. Keep in mind, Muzzin is a big part of their blueline, and his injury trouble could make this turn into a long-term ailment.
With the Maple Leafs' defensive depth already in question, losing Muzzin is certainly a big blow. He's been a big part of their top four since his arrival, so replacing him while he's gone will not be easy. Here's to hoping that he can have a speedy recovery and return to the ice once he's eligible to.
