New Jersey Devils Release Defenseman from PTO
The New Jersey Devils are parting ways with Thomas Hickey, as the club has released the veteran defenseman from his PTO.
Hickey was aiming to make the Devils' NHL roster, but given this recent development, it's clear that this is not coming to fruition. The 33-year-old played in just seven NHL games with the New York Islanders over the last two seasons, where he had two assists.
Now, Hickey back to square one, as he is a free agent without a PTO. Teams in need of some defensive depth could consider the prospect of signing him to a two-way deal. We also shouldn't count out the possibility of him signing overseas. Regardless, it will be intriguing to see what happens with him from here.
