New York Islanders Place 6 Players on Waivers
The New York Islanders have made an array of cuts to their training camp roster, as six players have been placed on waivers. They are as followed: Cory Schneider, Dennis Cholowski, Parker Wotherspoon, Hudson Fasching, Cole Bardreau, Andy Andreoff, and Arnaud Durandeau.
Schneider's placement on waivers isn't surprising, as the Islanders will once again be running with an Ilya Sorokin-Semyon Varlamov tandem this season. Thus, the veteran netminder will continue to be the club's third-string goalie. In his lone appearance with the Islanders last season, he won his start.
Cholowski inked a deal with the Islanders this offseason. The 2016 first-round pick is trying to get his career back on track. He spent this past season between the Washington Capitals and Seattle Kraken, where he had three assists in 11 games. There could be a team out there who believes that he can rebound, so let's see if he gets claimed.
Wotherspoon, Fasching, Bardreau, Andreoff, and Durandeau should be decent players for the AHL squad this season once they clear waivers.
