New York Rangers Sign Prospect
The New York Rangers have signed Talyn Boyko to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Boyko was selected by the Rangers with the 112th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-8 goalie has naturally gained attention because of his large height, but the 19-year-old also showed signs of progress this past season. In 46 games with the Kelowna Rockets, he had a 2.79 GAA and .913 SV%. Certainly solid numbers, and he will be aiming to build off of that in 2022-23.
The Rangers are pretty golden in net at this juncture, as they have Igor Shesterkin as their long-term starting netminder. However, as Boyko continues to improve, perhaps he could be a potential backup option for the Rangers later down the road.
