NHL Insider Predicts First GM Firing of 2022-23 Season
In his recent bold predictions piece for Daily Faceoff, Frank Seravalli said that Vegas Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon will be the first GM to be fired this season.
Although this is a bold prediction by Seravalli, it is easy to see why this could happen. The Golden Knights missed the playoffs for the first time in franchise history last season when they were deemed as potential favorites. With that, as Seravalli noted in his piece, the Golden Knights have traded a star player for nothing (Marc-Andre Fleury and Max Pacioretty) two offseasons in a row due to their poor salary cap management. Thus, if Vegas has a slow start, we very well could see McCrimmon fired early on.
Yet, if the Golden Knights manage to turn this ship around, even with their injury trouble, McCrimmon's job security should improve. Alas, we will need to keep an eye on this moving forward.
