NHL Rumors: 2 Teams Linked to Wayne Simmonds
According to Luke Fox of Sportsnet, there's speculation that the Philadelphia Flyers could have an interest in a Wayne Simmonds reunion. With that, Nick Kypreos also reported that the Ottawa Senators have some interest in the veteran winger.
It has been established by the Toronto Maple Leafs that they are looking to trade Simmonds. They are trying to do what's best for the player and are not concerned about the return. Both of these two clubs could be intriguing landing spots for him.
Most hockey fans around the globe believe that the Flyers will be near the bottom of the NHL standings this season. Therefore, Simmonds would not be competing for a Stanley Cup there, but it would offer him the chance to play for the team he is most remembered for. In 584 games as a Flyer, he had 203 goals and 378 points.
The Senators, on the other hand, are a team on the rise and would love to have an experienced leader like Simmonds around. With that, he would not have to travel too far to his new club, so there could be a match here as well.
