NHL Rumors: Blackhawks to Shop Defenseman
The Chicago Blackhawks are not done selling, and we are set to see several players traded by them this season. One intriguing name that we should pay attention to on this front is Jake McCabe.
McCabe would be more than a rental if acquired by another team. The 29-year-old has three years left on his contract with a $4 million cap hit, but so far, he has lived up to it well in Chicago. In 75 games last season with the team, he scored four goals and had a career-high 22 points. Now that he is healthy, he will be aiming to replicate that. If he does, Chicago could surely get a decent return for him.
McCabe carries a seven-team no-trade list, so he will have some say over where he ends up. However, after spending his entire career on rebuilding teams, it is likely that he would be open to a change of scenery if it results in him finally playing postseason hockey.
