NHL Rumors: Detroit Red Wings Star Emerges as Trade Candidate

In his recent piece for Daily Faceoff, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli predicted that Dylan Larkin will be traded by the Detroit Red Wings this season.

Seravalli's article is a bold predictions one, so naturally, this should be taken with a grain of salt. However, he argues that this is a possibility because Larkin is entering the final season of his contract and will be eligible to become a UFA next summer. Therefore, if they do not agree to terms on a new deal before the trade deadline and the Red Wings end up out of playoff contention by then, it isn't too far-fetched of a prediction.

Personally, I think that Larkin would much prefer to stay with his hometown team, much like Detroit wants to ink him to a long-term extension far more than trading him. Therefore, a lot would need to go wrong for this to happen, but until a new contract is finalized, let the Larkin trade speculation begin.
