NHL Rumors: Ducks to Trade Defenseman
The Anaheim Ducks have a notable trade target in John Klingberg, but another right-handed, offensive defenseman could be available by them at the deadline as well - Kevin Shattenkirk.
Like Klingberg, Shattenkirk is a pending UFA. However, the 33-year-old also has a 12-team no-trade list, so he does have some say over where he could potentially end up. Yet, if the Ducks continue to struggle and find themselves out of the playoff picture early, Shattenkirk will likely be quite open to a change of scenery to play meaningful hockey.
Shattenkirk is coming off of a season that saw him record 35 points in 82 games, so it is clear that he can produce well from the point. Teams in need of some help on the right side and their power play will likely make a push to acquire the veteran defenseman. This is especially true if the Ducks retain a little of his salary, too.
