NHL Rumors: Kraken to Trade Winger
The Seattle Kraken are off to a 2-3-2 start and could be in for another long season. If they do not improve and find themselves out of the playoff race early, don't be surprised to see GM Ron Francis look to make moves early. One clear trade candidate from Seattle is winger Joonas Donskoi.
Donskoi was in the rumor mill last season, but the 30-year-old ended up staying put past the deadline. Yet, the Kraken were at least considering the possibility of moving after what was a rough 2021-22 season for him. After scoring 17 goals and recording 31 points in 51 games with the Colorado Avalanche in 2020-21, Donskoi had just two goals and 22 points in 75 games last year. If he can find his old form in 2022-23, there will surely be a bigger trade market for the pending UFA.
Once Donskoi returns from injury, keep a close eye on his play. He has the potential to be a very good addition to a playoff team's roster, but he will first need to contribute how he used to for a deal to come to fruition.
